Ensuring that fire doors are closed in the event of a fire is a legal requirement. However there are occasions when a fire door is needed to be held open during normal operating hours. However if you wedge a door open using a tradition door wedge you will fail a fire safety inspection as the door will not be closed in the event of a fire and will not prevent the spread of fire. However there are solutions available to you. We have Dorgard door holders which attach at the bottom of the door. We also supply electro-magnetic door holders which traditionally hold the door open at the top of the door and attach to the wall. Both systems will listen out for the sound of your fire alarm and will release the door when it sounds. At this point your door closer will then be free to return the door to its frame. Both the Dorgard and Agrippa fire door retainers are battery operated making installation easier with no trailing wires. However our Deedlock electro-mag door closers require a cable to supply power. This means that in the event of loss of electricity, as often is the case in a fire, the door holder will release the door, again allowing the door to return to the frame under the force of the door closer.
