The Dorgard A 1328 Door Holder Beech is designed to be fixed onto the bottom of a fire door. Dorgard can be easily installed in a matter of 5 minutes. It works by listening out for a repeating fire alarm which is 65dBA or greater.
As with other fire safety devices we recommend that the Dorgard has a Fire Risk Assessment carried out on it before the installation process takes place.
The Dorgard works by listening out for the repetition of a fire alarm sounding up to 65 decibels or above. Once the Dorgard notices the sound of the alarm it will release the fire door around 14 seconds after noticing the alarm, the door will then shut from the pressure of the overhead door closer meaning it will prevent both smoke and fire from spreading to another area of a building. The Dorgard will also release at the general noise level of 80 decibels because if the level of noise in a building exceeds 80 decibels it is unlikely that you will to be able to hear a 65 decibel sounding alarm, so the Dorgard will release the fire door to close.
This Dorgard does not require any wiring into a main fire alarm system, meaning there will be limited disruption and also allows for a quick and easy installation process.
The Dorgard is different from other fire safety devices such as electro-magnetic retainers in that it is all battery operated, self-contained and requires no wiring. The Dorgard is fixed to the door using four screws meaning that in around 5 minutes your Dorgard will be set-up and ready to go.
