AC Leigh opened its first branch in Norwich in 1959
Where did it all begin?
Founded by Arthur Charles Leigh, an ex-spitfire pilot, in 1959, AC Leigh was originally a locksmith and key-cutting business servicing the residents of Norwich. However, in the 1970’s we started expanding and moved to our current location at the corner of Grapes Hill and St Benedict’s, further expanding to take over the pub next door and then the Butchers. In 1993 AC Leigh was sold to local businessman, Richard Millar, who continued our expansion of products and expertise offerings, including further branches in Colchester and Ipswich.
Now, we employ over 50 people and offer our products and services across the whole of East Anglia and the UK. We define AC Leigh as an Architectural Ironmonger and security specialist, with our security division based in Norwich.
What is Architectural Ironmongery?
Architectural ironmongery means items made from iron, steel, aluminium, brass and other metals (and even plastics) for use in all types of buildings. This includes door furniture, hinges, bolts, letterboxes and window fastenings.
At AC Leigh, we now have a wealth of experience within the industry when it comes to providing ironmongery, and we will source the highest quality products for our clients, who include architects and builders, using the best brands such as Alexander & Wilks, Brisant, Carlisle Brass, Croft, Frank Allart, From The Anvil, Groom, Dormakaba, Karcher, SALTO and Simonswerk. We make sure that we provide our customers with a fantastic range of ironmongery products.
What are Access Control Solutions?
Access control systems are the hardware and software that are fast replacing locks in many of our buildings, regardless of their use. This includes access devices such as access control kits, keypads, proximity readers, cards and fobs.
This is a fast-growing part of our business and we are at the forefront of delivering this advance technology to the whole of the UK.
We Deliver Excellence Through Quality, Knowledge and Service
We have built our business on providing excellent service and great value. The products we sell are very high quality and represent significant value for money, supported by our extensive knowledge and expertise. The service we provide to you is as important to us as the products.
This means we really do deliver excellence.
We are a major reseller of premium products from brands such as Securikey, Dormakaba, Geze and SALTO, and we offer these top quality products at very competitive prices.
Working with you, we will talk through the requirements of your project and ensure you’re happy with your choice every step of the way. Our fully trained staff will ensure that the product you choose is the product that is right for you, and that it meets every one of your requirements.
We have 100s of years of combined knowledge through our in-house experts. They have had extensive training on our range of access control, ironmongery and security products, and our staff have been trained to, and completed, the GAI (Guild of Architectural Ironmongery) diploma course. This is globally-recognised as the leading qualification for professionals involved in architectural ironmongery scheduling, estimating and support.
We will use this expertise and many years of experience to work with you and visit your offices, attend site, discuss samples and work through plans with you at every stage of the buying process.
At AC Leigh, we pride ourselves on providing a traditional service whilst being a forward-thinking company. This means that our customers get the best of both worlds.
